Honorary Consul

The Honorary Consulate of Thailand in Kraków covers the area of ​​the Lesser Poland, Silesia, Opole and Lower Silesia voivodeships.

Wieslaw Żyznowski (born 1964).

He is a native of Krakow. He graduated from the Faculty of Management of the Cracow University of Economics (now Cracow University of Economics) and the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, where he received his doctorate in  the philosophy. The title of his dissertation is “The Profit Man in Ancient Greek Philosophy and Culture.”

In the late 1980s, he worked as a business translator. In the early 1990s, together with his brother Piotr Żyznowski, he founded Mercator in Cracow, which was later transformed into several other companies. One of them is Mercator Medical S.A., founded in 1996 and listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2013.

Mercator Medical S.A. has received numerous awards and accolades for its growth and international expansion. It controls companies of the same name and other companies that have manufacturing facilities in Thailand and operate in various countries, selling disposable medical products, mainly gloves, to dozens of other countries.

In the market for medical gloves, the Group is the leader in Central and Eastern Europe and controls about 2% of the global share. He served as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Mercator Medical from 1996 to 2010. He has been Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors from 2010 until May 29, 2024. He has again served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board since May 31, 2024.

Wieslaw Zyznowski is also the owner of the Baza company, which administers a gas station in Siercza of the same name. Right next to the gas station is the headquarters of the Żyznowski Publishing House, of which Wieslaw Żyznowski is the founder and owner. The publishing house was established in 2004 and specializes in regional topics (https://zyznowski.pl/wydawca/ , especially those related to the cultural heritage of the Wieliczka Land and Lemkivshchyna.

The publishing house is the winner of the Pearl of Wieliczka County 2012 in the category of cultural creators, as well as the Cultural Award of the Mayor of Wieliczka 2012. Also, the books published by the company have received a number of awards and prizes (including a distinction in the Most Beautiful Books of the Year 2009 and the Internauts’ Award in the Historical Book of the Year 2012 competition).

In 2024, he was appointed Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Thailand for the area of Malopolska, Silesia, Opole and Lower Silesia provinces, based in Krakow.
